This past summer, as UNC tried to move past the ongoing football scandal by firing head coach Butch Davis, the university hired a sports agent to teach a class, The News and Observer reports.
Carl Carey Jr., an agent who represented Julius Peppers in his recent deal with the Chicago Bears, was hired to teach a course in the African and Afro-American studies department. He was also representing two UNC football players who had been selected in this spring’s NFL draft at the time.
This latest development comes after a tumultuous year for the UNC football program. Following an investigation into improper benefits for athletes, the NCAA delivered a notice of allegations to UNC in June.
