Governor Bev Perdue, who made a surprise announcement last week that she would not seek re-election in the fall, gave an extended interview to WRAL news anchor David Crabtree.

In the interview, Perdue discusses her decision not to seek re-election, her devotion to the issue of education in North Carolina and her chances at re-election had she chosen to run. However, she did not discuss the personal reasons that led her to the decision:
“It was too personal,” she said. “There were a lot of personal issues involved in this decision that I’ll never discuss in public.”
