The Tar Heels had a 15-point lead against the Cavaliers and Valentine’s Day was only three days away. What better time and place to propose than on the court at the Saturday afternoon game against UVA?
With every eye and camera on him, Dan Hatley got on one knee to ask Caroline Carter to marry him at halftime.
“I told her, ‘You’ve got to say yes or no real quick,’” Hatley said after the game.
“And I said yes,” Carter said laughingly.
Both are UNC alumni. Hatley graduated from UNC Law School in 2008, an Carter graduated with with an undergraduate degree in 2005.
