In Tuesday’s runoff election, students voted to remain in the Association of Student Governments.
With 57.4 percent of voters electing to remain in the ASG, students at UNC-Chapel Hill will continue the $1 a student fee to fund the association.
The Association of Student Government is a body meant to represent students from UNC-system schools. The association is funded by the $1 annual fee from each student at 16 out of the 17 UNC-system schools.
The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is the only UNC-system school that does not pay the annual fee.
Membership in the association is controversial as it has been criticized for its ineffectiveness as discussed in an article in the Daily Tar Heel.
